"Cultures without Borders" is a project aimed at favoring the cultural and social environment between the inhabitants of the district Villapizzone in Milan. It was developed by Compagnia Africana, Project for People, B-Cam and Mamme a Scuola with the support of the Cariplo Foundation.
The programme involves large parts of the population (young people, migrants and the elderly) and aims at strengthening the activities promoted by Centro Culturale di Amicizia Milano - Africa (CAMAF). It promotes several activities such as storytelling for older people, percussion courses for children and a multi-ethnic choir. The main objective is to develop social inclusion in the neighborhood by encouraging the networking of different social realities and the encounter of individuals with different cultural backgrounds.
This photographic work is based on biographical stories and the people’s participatory engagement. It is a study on the inhabitants and on the symbolic places of the district of Villapizzone, realized in collaboration with the photographer Daniel Alejandro Gencarelli and the NGO Project for People.
